I found Mr Bourne very easy to talk to very down to earth. He has a good sense of humour and is very relaxed in his bedside manner. He explained the procedure to me and took time to see how i felt about the surgery and answered any questions i had. I rate Mr Bourne and his staff very highly. Chorley hospital is lucky to have him.

My case had been escalated to see Mr Bourne after being referred for spinal surgery Mr Bourne examined me and explained in detail what the issues were showing me my MRI scans. He was extremely professional with a caring bedside manner and put under no pressure whatsoever. The risks were also explained on the consent form.... I asked how good he was and he showed me reviews on his PC. On the day of the surgery he came to speak with me offering reassurances and again under no pressure if I wanted to change my mind but gave me medical advice from his knowledge through his own experience, research and guidelines. He was also there to check on me in recovery. The procedure was a success. I had an overnight stay at Euxton hospital and Mr Bourne visited me the following morning to see how I was and gave me advice on what to expect, recovery and follow up appointments. Mr Bourne has enabled me to get my life back on track and I would strongly recommend him as an excellent surgeon.

I am a 72 yr. old male with severe pain in lower back and legs.Mr.Bourne my designated consultant advised me to have spinal fusion in a operation that would best suit me with my age and health conditions.My operation was a success my recovery was far less traumatic than other spinal ops.Mr Bourne was pleasant and informative and made me at ease and confident for my future operation.The care I received in hostpital was five star and I would like to thank Mr Bourne,his team and the staff who cared for me.Thanks once again to all,Mr K J Illingworth.

My name is Stella Woods I saw Mr Bourne at the Chorley clinic. I am a lady in her seventies and been suffering with my back for quite some time, when I had the great opportunity to see Mr Bourne,( what a lucky day that was ) Mr Bourne really took the time to listen to me and I was so great full that he had an idea where the pain was coming from he then sent me for an MRI scan in which his diagnosis was right I had a Bulging Disc in other words the L3/4 disc was what was giving me all the pain. I then was admitted for surgery on the 5 /09/2019 Mr Bourne came to see me and explained what he was about to do, he made me feel so calm in fact all the staff who was under Mr Bourne were fantastic, I couldn’t have wished for anything better due to the circumstances. The day after I was seeing Physio team who told me what to do and not to do, apart from being sore after the operation, which can be expected, they then made sure that I was okay to go home and off I went. After Nine days, I was to see Mr Bourne again over at Chorley hospital, I had an X-ray to see if every thing was in order, then went to see Mr Bourne ( my hero ) he explained what he did and also showed me my X-ray ( it was amazing what he has achieved, he went on to say ‘’ that he had put a titanium cage with a substance within it and that it would then fuse the disc in my back’’ I honestly cannot believe that all this time I have been in pain then within two weeks the only pain I am experiencing is the slight surgery pain. He is honestly my hero and all I can say is anyone going through this pain which I have encountered over quite some time, is not to be afraid especially if you see Mr Bourne. My follow up with him is in Three months. Although I am at the age I am, he has give me more years in which I now look forward to playing with my 5 month old grandchild. Thank you Mr Bourne.
